A couple of chairs and the smell of plaster
Set the stage for our forever after
“Who’s that guy? The one who’s sleeping in?”
But before I learned to kick the habit,
Our tangled life was automatic.
Where’s the music? Cue the violins.
We’re talking too much. With our “what about’s”, our “why’s it all’s,” oh
Maybe just because.
Nothing beats that very first high.
Only feel that very first time.
I bet you thought I was a wonderful guy,
Well, surprise.
Those same two chairs they symbolize
Wooden legs, wearing out with time.
The price for love is higher on day one.
Take me back, though it won’t last.
We could skip your morning class.
If we don’t sleep, the morning never comes.
We’re talking too much. With our “what about’s”, our “why’s it all’s,” oh
Maybe just because.
Nothing beats that very first high.
Only feel that very first time.
I bet you thought I was a hell of a guy,
Well, surprise.
It’s seems a little different when you strip it all away,
Highs and lows, oh I don’t know, we’re better off this way?
Think of all the time spent, how we’ve come so far.
It sounded so much better at the start.
We’re talking too much. With our “what about’s”, our “why’s it all’s,” oh
Maybe just because.
Nothing beats that very first high.
Only feel that very first time.
I bet you thought I was a hell of a guy,
Well, surprise.
And so I’ll try to kick the habit,
And not to think too much about it.
Trying to get back towards day one.
